Making Curtains like this is a feat of engineering, a project management nightmare, a work of art and a labour of love. These particular curtains reside in one the finest homes we have ever worked in and are extremely proud of the work we have put into this remarkable home. All of the curtains in this home were handmade, lined and interlined and had multiple layers on each window. In this example we used a custom made Silk brocade, woven for us (twice!) in Italy. The first batch was rejected, the second batch was spectacular… The curtains are interlined in French Domette and have SILK liners, yes, lined in silk. The sheers are a shot voile.
We used 300 metres of fabric, 1/4km of trim, took 6 full weeks and used thousands and thousands of handstitches to hold these together. The install itself took a week, we timelapsed the whole event, and our good friend Klaus Monies put together this great video for you to enjoy… so enjoy!
